When putting the hopper minecarts in the grass blocks, put the trapdoors then place the rails with the hopper minecarts so they dont fall off. Then you can break the rails, then you have to use pistons to push the grass blocks into the minecarts. They will collide with the block but not break then you can work on everything else.
